Delighted to Meet You

Meet the team

Geeta Nathan, MD

Psychiatrist

As a child growing up in Philadelphia at an all girls school, I struggled to fit in and used my sensitivity to develop a rich inner spiritual world.

I was raised  to believe in fairytales, like  a naive and innocent  princess in a castle, always believing in good, believing that realities like death, sickness and aging and loss would never touch me.

I then struggled with some heartbreaking losses at a young age and overwhelmed by the external world, started training my mind to become stronger so my internal experience  was stabilized and could meet any challenge that life threw at me and I can help train you to do the same.

“I combine a holistic approach with  traditional psychiatry to help adults struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, grief, and trauma train and heal their minds, find meaning in their lives and circumstances, and develop interpersonal connection. My approach includes deep therapy work, medication, supplementation, meditation and mindfulness practices, and lifestyle coaching to help you achieve optimal spiritual and mental wellness.”

I help adults grappling with anxiety, depression, and trauma to heal their minds, find meaning and contentment again, and explore and develop their inner experiences through deep interpersonal connection by combining traditional psychiatry including medication as needed with an integrative, heart-based approach. This includes therapy, supplementation, mindfulness practices, lifestyle coaching, insights from Ayurvedic and Eastern medicine, and additional tools for holistic healing.

“I have a special interest in supporting individuals navigating the complexities of on a journey of exploring their spiritual beliefs at a deeper level.”

My background in French Literature (undergraduate at the University of Chicago, studies at the Sorbonne), my undergraduate thesis on the French surrealist trilogy by Andre Breton-Nadja, Communicating Vessels, Mad Love) sparked my interest in psychiatry(Breton himself was a medical student, planned to become a psychiatrist) and Nadja herself was a psychiatric patient. I pursued research in psychiatry at the University of Chicago with Dr. Nada Stotland, former president of the APA on the psychiatric effects of abortion in adolescents, and with Dr. Harriet DeWit, I then decided to enter medical school to become a psychiatrist.
